Welcome

The WBSN National Women’s Snooker Academy has been created to provide a clear, structured and supportive pathway for women and girls to learn, develop and thrive in snooker.

Whether you are picking up a cue for the first time or looking to take your game to the next level, the academy offers a welcoming and professionally guided environment focused on skill development, confidence and opportunity.

Structured learning

The academy is delivered as a 4-month structured program, designed to progressively build skills, understanding and confidence.

Participants will take part in:

  • Fortnightly coaching sessions (approximately 10 sessions across the program)

  • Small group learning to ensure personalised attention

  • A structured development pathway based on the WPBSA “White to Black” program

Each session focuses on a key area of the game, including:

  • Fundamentals: stance, grip, alignment and cue action

  • Sighting and aiming techniques

  • Potting and positional play

  • Safety and tactical awareness

  • Break building and match play

Between Sessions

Development doesn’t stop when the session ends.

Participants are encouraged to complete:

  • At least 4 practice sessions between each coaching session

  • Structured training exercises aligned to each lesson

  • Personal progress tracking through an academy training diary

This approach ensures that learning is reinforced and confidence continues to build between sessions.

Equipment & Support

To remove barriers to entry:

  • Cue and equipment packs may be provided for participants to use throughout the program

  • Support and guidance will be available both during and between sessions

  • A strong, inclusive environment ensures all participants feel welcome regardless of experience level

Pathways & Opportunities

The academy is not just about learning the game — it is about creating opportunity.

Participants will be supported to progress into:

  • WBSN workshops and development programs

  • Local and state competitions

  • National-level events, including the WBSN $20,000 Snooker Tournament

Our Purpose

At its core, the academy reflects the values of the Women’s Billiards and Snooker Network Incorporated — fairness, inclusion and the belief that women deserve equal access to opportunity in cue sports.
