Why Billiards and Snooker?

People often ask why new players are often encouraged to spend time playing billiards and snooker on the big table.
The answer lies in the skills these disciplines naturally develop. The larger table requires precision, patience, and thoughtful shot selection. Players learn cue control, positional play, and the importance of planning ahead — skills that form the foundation of all cuesports.
These fundamentals transfer easily across other disciplines, whether players later move into pool, eight ball, or continue competing in billiards and snooker. Building strong core skills early often makes learning new formats easier and more enjoyable.
Importantly, this isn’t about suggesting one game is better than another. Every discipline offers something unique, and the best cuesport is always the one you enjoy playing. However, developing sound fundamentals can make every version of the game more rewarding.

At Women’s Billiards and Snooker Network Incorporated, our aim is to create opportunities for players to experience billiards and snooker, build confidence, and develop skills that support them wherever their cuesports journey takes them.
